At ELZA, personalized care is not a tier of service — it is how every international patient is treated. Your case is managed by a dedicated coordinator, overseen by a named specialist, and handled with the confidentiality that Swiss medical practice demands and that you have every right to expect.
There is a difference between being a patient in a system and being a patient in a relationship. In a busy clinic or a large hospital, your case is one of many. Appointments run late. The person you see today may not be the person who operated on you last month. The coordinator who confirmed your appointment does not know your history.
At ELZA, the structure is deliberately different — not because our patients demand a certain level of service, but because we believe that individualized attention produces better medicine. When a specialist knows your case in depth, every consultation is more precise. When a single coordinator manages your journey from first contact to follow-up, nothing is lost in the handover. When the environment around you is calm and private, you can give an accurate account of your symptoms and ask the questions you actually need answered.
This is what personalized care means at ELZA, in practice.
OUR APPROACH
Expertscape is a medical publication analytics company that ranks physicians and researchers based on their published body of work in PubMed — the world’s leading database of peer-reviewed medical literature. Rankings are based on the recency, volume, quality, journal prestige, and authorship position of published research. It is an objective measure, not a popularity vote or a paid listing.
PRIVACY AND MEDICAL CONFIDENTIALITY
Switzerland has one of the world’s most robust frameworks for personal data protection and medical confidentiality. Swiss physicians are bound by professional secrecy under Article 321 of the Swiss Criminal Code — a legal obligation that extends to all clinical staff and all information relating to your care. Breach of medical confidentiality is a criminal offence in Switzerland, not merely a regulatory matter.
ELZA operates in full compliance with both Swiss data protection law and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your medical records, diagnostic images, correspondence, and identity are managed on secure, encrypted systems. Nothing about your presence at ELZA — including the fact of your appointment — is disclosed to third parties without your explicit consent.
For patients whose professional position, public profile, or personal circumstances make confidentiality a particular priority, we are experienced in accommodating additional requirements. If you have specific privacy considerations, discuss them with your coordinator from the outset. We will handle them without drama and without making them into a larger issue than they need to be.
THE ELZA ENVIRONMENT
ELZA operates from two locations in the Zurich area: a clinical facility in Dietikon, and a consulting practice in Zurich’s city centre, directly at the main railway station. Both are designed with privacy in mind: boutique in scale, quiet by nature, without the institutional atmosphere of a large hospital.
Appointments are scheduled to minimize overlap and waiting time. Consultation rooms are private. If you arrive with a companion, family member, or personal assistant, they are accommodated without fuss.
For patients traveling from abroad, both locations offer straightforward access – Zurich is one of Europe’s best-connected cities, and our team will help you plan the practical details of your visit so that the clinical experience is as frictionless as possible.
CONTINUITY ACROSS BORDERS
For most international patients, the clinical relationship with ELZA continues after they have returned home. Follow-up imaging is often possible with an ophthalmologist in your own country — we will specify exactly what needs to be performed and when, so that your local physician can carry it out without ambiguity.
The results of that follow-up imaging come back to your ELZA specialist for review. If there is anything to discuss, your coordinator will reach out to schedule a video call. If everything is progressing as expected, you will receive a clear written summary confirming this.
You do not need to return to Zurich for routine follow-up. You return when the clinical situation calls for it, and only then.
