Prof. Hafezi presented new insights on PACK-CXL, ELZA-PACE, and epi-on CXL at EPOMEC 2025, shaping future keratoconus management.
Ten years after the First Global Consensus, the Second Global Consensus on Keratoconus—reported in EuroTimes—provides an updated, internationally agreed framework for diagnosis, staging, and management. Developed using a modified Delphi process, it reflects a shift from disease stabilisation alone toward individualized care that integrates modern diagnostics, optimized cross-linking strategies, and visual rehabilitation.
ECO-CAIRS, developed at ELZA, uses ultra-high-fluence CXL to optimize donor corneal ring segments for keratoconus surgery. Now published in JRS.
Keratoconus affects not only the cornea but also the retina, choroid, and optic nerve head, as shown in a meta-analysis co-authored by Prof. Farhad Hafezi.
